Falling Leaves Moon

Description

Drawn for :iconkimono-lovers: contest
I was given the falling leaves moon, which is quite a nice theme. I love the autumn leaves and I love the idea of an autumn kanzashi. I wanted leaves to be blown off by the chilly evening breeze, i wanted them to fall and settle on her kimono... but i guess that was a mistake... the leaves became a very long and tedious task... it seemed no matter how many leaves i drew, there was never enough.
The Kimono is Autumn, but I also wanted to create a sense of the frosty winter to be coming soon so... i added the speckles of snow puffs on the Kimono and Obi (frosty stream)

Her Komon is the Moon in golden threads. :D

It is quite a learning experience and it gave me a chance to draw and practice more. It's not the best, but i am learning new techniques on PS.
I hope you like it.

Theme:
Falling Leaves Moon - called “Binaakwe-giizis” by the Anishnaabe (Chippewa/Ojibway) people.

This moon is associated with mid-autumn; namely the months of October and November. The fall colours peak and the leaves begin to fall. The weather quickly gets colder and frost appears. The bears continue to feast on acorns; fattening up before going into hibernation. It is moose rutting season and the birds are beginning to fly south. Rain and very strong winds are common. Other tribes call this time: “White frost on grass and ground” (Algonquin), “When the water begins to freeze on the edges of the streams” (Cheyeene), “When the birds fly south” (Cree), “Time of poverty” (Mohawk), “Big chestnut moon” (Muscokee), “Changing season moon” (Sioux), “Big wind moon” (Zuni).
